searching for a guide through life

The Job Search

The job search can be a bitch.

That may be harsh, but how else are ya gonna put it? I remember being unemployed early 2010, putting in application after application, feeling like I would choke somebody out if I didn’t get a job soon. And I was only out of work for 4 months.

Searching for employment is usually no fun task. It seems like a cut-and-dry pursuit, but there’s so many emotions involved. Like when you don’t meet all the requirements for a position. Inadequacy. When you get rejected over and over again. Hopelessness. When it’s imperative to transition from where you are currently but you have no idea what to do next or how to get there. Desperation.

These feelings are just magnified when you have responsibilities to take care of, someone dependent on you, or you want to measure up to or exceed society’s expectations of you.

We all want to work. Well, most of us do.

I feel like having substantial employment should be built into our rights, along with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Haha. I guess that’s what the job search really is. The pursuit.
